Steve Harvey Thanks Warren Beatty for Oscars Mix-up in Song
The torch has been passed.
After the Oscars mix-up last night, Steve Harvey responds with a song called the "Warren Beatty Blues" on The Steve Harvey Morning Show on Monday morning. He thanked him for getting him off the hook while singing. He also took to Twitter.
"Call me Warren Beatty. I can help you get through this! #Oscars," Harvey tweeted.
On Sunday, February 26 during the Oscars ceremony, Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway mistakenly announced that La La Land won Best Picture but it was actually Moonlight. Unknowingly, the 79 year-old actor had been given the wrong envelope. Once it was corrected, Beatty stayed on stage to explain the mishap to the Moonlight cast.
"I opened the envelope and it said, 'Emma Stone, La La Land.' That's why I took such a long look at Faye and at you. I wasn't trying to be funny."
In December 2015, Harvey crowned the wrong winner at the Miss Universe pageant. The 60 year-old comedian later explained he had misread the announcement card, causing a lot of backlash for his error.
Unlike Harvey, Beatty and Dunaway weren't blamed for the mistake. PricewaterhouseCoopers, the company that handles the Oscar balloting, published an apology on Twitter stating that the presenters had "been given the wrong category envelope" and are "investigating how it could have happened."
