Donald Sterling, the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, has been banned for life from the NBA. The league commissioner, Adam Silver, made the announcement on Tuesday, April 29.

"The central findings of the investigation are that the man whose voice is heard on the recording and on a second recording from the same conversation that was released on Sunday is Mr. Sterling and that the hateful opinions voiced by that man are those of Mr. Sterling."

"He is also barred from attending in any league activities." This includes any NBA games, practices and any Clippers facilities.

Sterling, 80, has been banned due to the phone conversation released to TMZ he had with his girlfriend, Vanessa Stiviana. In the conversation, you can here him tell her that he was upset about her associating with black people.

Along with the ban, Sterling has also been slapped with a $2.5 million fine. It's the highest fine the leagues' bylaws will allow. There's a possibility he could lose ownership of the team if forced to sell.

"As for Mr. Sterling's ownership interest in the Clippers, I will urge the Board of Governors to exercise its authority to force a sale of the team and will do everything in my power to ensure that that happens."
