What started as a good event ended in a huge tragedy. During a marathon in Boston, Massachusetts, two explosions were set off just four hours after the race began. Three people were killed and over 170 were injured.
New Kids on the Block singer Joey McIntyre competed in and finished the marathon before the explosions happened. "There was an explosion by the finish line about five minutes after I finished. I'm OK but I'm sure there are many hurt. I don't know what to say. I feel for everybody involved with the Boston Marathon."
Mark Wahlberg talked to Us Weekly during a screening of his new film, Pain & Gain. He expressed his concern about his family and friends in Boston. "Obviously I've got a huge family and so many family and friends back in Boston. I don't know what exactly happened, and I don't know if everyone's okay."
Ben Affleck made a status on Facebook about the tragedy. "Such a senseless and tragic day. My family and I send our love to our beloved and resilient Boston."

The American Red Cross asks people [particularly those in Boston] to visit the Safe and Well website to inform loved ones that they are safe.
