Paula Deen Fired After Racism Scandal
If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. In Paula Deen's case, she took the heat and got fired from it.
A lawsuit from a former employee brought to light that the now infamous chef had used racial slurs in the past.
Lisa Jackson, former employee of Uncle Bubba's Seafood and Oyster House, sued Deen and her brother, Bubba Hiers, alleging there was discrimination and a hostile work environment at the restaurant.
When asked if she had ever used the N-word, the 66 year-old celebrity chef replied, "Yes, of course."
Deen says that she was held at gunpoint while working at a bank in 1986. "Things have changed since the 60s in the South and my children and my brother object to that word being used in any cruel or mean behavior. As well as I do."
After she was a no-show for an appearance on NBC's Today show, Deen issued two apologies, via Youtube. "I am here to say that I am so sorry. I was wrong, yes. I've worked hard and I've made some mistakes. But that is no excuse."
Food Network didn't accept her apology. The officials at the channel elected not to renew her contract. A spokeswoman released a statement on Friday, June 21 that she had been fired.
"Food Network will not renew Paula Deen's contract when it expires at the end of this month."

Ed Sheeran: Selena Gomez's New Crush
Beiber who? Selena Gomez has forgotten all about her ex-boyfriend Justin Beiber. She now has her eyes set on British singer-songwriter, Ed Sheeran.

Gomez is said to be ready for a more mature relationship, especially after the rocky roller coaster that she had with Beiber. They have been on and off since they first started dating in late 2010.
Although Sheeran told Us that he was single on June 16 at the MuchMusic Video Awards, when he was asked about his involvement with Gomez, he said, "I wouldn't complain."

Simon Cowell Gets Egged
Halloween isn't the only time someone can get egged these days. Simon Cowell was egged during the Britain's Got Talent Finale.

Natalie Holt, the egg thrower, was playing the viola with the orchestra at the time of the incident. She issued an apology to Richard and Adam for disrupting their performance.
"I want to apologize to Richard and Adam for overshadowing their performance. I've never done anything like this before and in hindsight I have realized it was a silly thing to do."
The 53 year-old judge didn't seem to be bothered by the incident. He tweeted: "I don't think eggs should be allowed on talent shows. Discuss?"

John Malkovich Saves Man's Life
Jim Walpole and his wife Marilyn, were visiting Toronto for their cross-Canada train trip. Walpole, 77, tripped outside the King Edward Hotel and stubbed his toe. When he fell, his neck hit something sharp on a scaffolding pole and he started to bleed.
Marilyn Walpole told ABC News that she was terrified. She reportedly screamed for help and two men came to the rescue, one being Malkovich and the other Ben Quinn, a passerby. The actor pressed his fingers to the wound while Quinn held his head.
Quinn told The Toronto Sun that the Con Air actor seemed to know what he was doing. "We didn't know who he was. I just asked if I could hold the man's head and he said yes.
When Walpole asked Malkovich his name he replied, "My name is John and you are going to be all right."
The ambulance arrived shortly after and rushed Walpole to St. Michael's Hospital where he received ten stitches for his injury. "The emergency room doctor said that if the cut had been another eighth of an inch, I would have been in real trouble," the Defiance, Ohio resident told ABC.
The Ohio couple didn't recognize the Mice and Men actor, but were very grateful when they found out.
According to The Sun, the 59 year-old actor received an extra round of applause on stage Saturday at Toronto's Elgin Theatre. Malkovich is currently starring as Casanova in The Giacomo Variations.
