SNL Writer Apologizes For "Insensitive" Barron Trump Tweet

A tweet might have cost someone their job.

Katie Rich, a writer for NBC's Saturday Night Live, is in hot water after a tweet she made about President Trump's son. The day of the inauguration on Friday, January 20, Rich posted,  "Barron will be this country's first homeschool shooter."

Due to serious backlash, the 33 year old writer deleted her Twitter account. Unhappy with her actions, SNL immediately suspended her. Rich started working for SNL in 2013. According to Us Weekly, her name wasn't included in the ending credits on this past Saturday's show on January 21.

On Monday, January 23, Rich reactivated her account and apologized. "I sincerely apologize for the insensitive tweet. I deeply regret my actions and offensive words. It was inexcusable & I'm sorry."

President Trump has not commented on the situation.
